I worked for Mr. Ross when he owned Giant Eagle here in Somerset, Pa. I worked there for 7 years during high school and college. I am now 47 years old and can honestly say he was the best person I ever worked for. He cared for his employees. He even kept me on the company medical benefits when I went to part-time hours because my wife and I were expecting a child. I have never forgotten his generosity. I have thought about him and Barron a lot over the years. I loved working for Mr. Ross and I am sorry for your loss.

It saddens me to know you lost your father,grandpa and a good man that put his family first. He had a pretty long ride to Giant Eagle so his children could stay in school in Pittsburgh. He gave me a job as his Deli Manager and was so nice to work for. I quit after a few years and he came to where I was working and I knew he wanted me to go back for him and I didn’t because I was getting more money at the other store. I look back now and wished I would have. Unfortunately we can’t live in the past and can only move forward. I pray for you and your family a complete healing as you move forward in life without him.God Bless You All

I worked for Dave in 1990-1991 at the Giant Eagle in Somerset while going to UPJ. One day in the summer, he looked at me and said, "Are you taller than me?" Stupidly, I said, "Yes." He said, "Good! Then reach on top of the freezers and get those styrofoam coolers down." He laughed. He knew he got me. He convinced me to be the Sunday night manager in the office even though I had no management experience. He believed in me. He was a great man, and an even better boss. I am truly thankful to have known him. My condolences on your loss.

So very sorry to read of Dave's passing. Thank you for letting us know in Somerset. All of his classmates from 1969 send our condolences to you. He was well-liked and well-respected. He will be in our hearts at next year's reunion.
